Overview: H.Upmann Propios – Limited Edition 2018
H. Upmann’s Propios is a limited edition that was released in 2018 but did not become available internationally until late 2019. The Propios is a Mareva Gruesa Vitola with measurements of 120mm and a 46 ring gauge. This is the first time the Mareva Vitola has been used by the Upmann brand and only the second time it has been used by Habanos.
The Propios has a distinct aroma of coffee and spicy cedar and is beautifully presented in a Colorado Maduro wrapper. The Maduro leaves undergo an individual aging process of 5 years to achieve this luxurious color and classification adding a unique sweetness to the profile.
Flavours of toasted coffee introduced this cigar, mixed with pepper and a touch of sweetness. The strength begins at a mild medium and does not progress far beyond
that until the final third it reaches a solid medium.
This cigar provides a good smoke, while it is not a complex cigar it has good clean rustic flavours and offers tremendous aging potential.

Hoyo de Monterrey owes its origin to the town of San Juan y Martinez, which lies at the heart of the Vuelta Abajo zone. Here the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation, one of the great Vegas de Primera, can be reached through a gate on the town's main square inscribed "Hoyo de Monterrey. Jose Gener. 1960."
"Hoyo" literally means "hole" and in this case describes the low-lying position of the plantation on the fertile banks of San Juan y Martinez river. Jose Gener, a Spaniard from Tarragona, first used the name of his vega on a brand of Habanos in 1865.
The flavour of Hoyo de Monterrey's blend makes it an attractive choice for those who seek a delicate yet aromatic Habano that is lighter to the taste but with great elegance and complexity.
Hoyo de Monterrey was the first brand to introduce a Petit Robusto in 2005, the 50 ring gauge size with a shorter length to suit those who like thicker formats, but do not always have the time to enjoy them.

Habanos Añejados – in English maturation stored Havanna cigars – is a new Habanos product concept. The cigars manufactured by hand mature in perfect conditions for at least five years before they are come into the shops. The Montecristo Churchill Añejados has the classical format Julieta No.2 (band size 47, length 178 mm). They were also rolled in 2008 and are thus maturation stored for seven years. That is why this year is on the bottom of the box, supplemented by “Revisado”.

Cohiba Piramides Extra is the first figurado in the permanent Linea Clasica range, debuting a new size for Cubanos at 160mm with a 54 ring gauge. Piramides was
released in 2012 and is intended to complete the Clasica collection.
Filled with the signature tobacco blend exclusive to Cohiba, all of their cigars are Totalmente a Mano, Tripa Larga – long filler, hand made, in the famous El Laguito factory.
We were greeted with aromas of rich tobacco and leather and touches of citrus and spice on the cold draw. Once lit this cigar offered similar flavours to the aromas, with the addition of vanilla, creamy coffee and florals mixed with sweet grass. Citrus began to dominate in the middle but was never overpowering, the overall strength never straying beyond a smooth medium.
This was an incredibly luxurious smoke, offering a surprising collection of complementary and unusual flavours that lasted around 90 minutes, you will need to carve out the time to properly enjoy the Piramides and the experience will be your reward.

Cohiba Behike 56 is the final piece of the Behike trifecta, released to the public in 2010 the Behike series has gained international accolades for its elite creations. The 56 is hand rolled in the El Laguito factory and filled with some of the finest tobacco leaves, Volado, Seco, Ligero leaves and the revered Medio Tiempo leaf. Medio Tiempo is a sun grown leaf that appears at the top of only some tobacco plants, largely contributing to the restricted availability of these fine cigars. They are then finished with the signature Behike pigtail cap.
The flavours of this cigar are at first gentler than its siblings, but offers a hefty amount of creamy smoke while it develops. We found this cigar comes to life in the second half displaying a medium to full body with flavours of cocoa, cinnamon and nutmeg to be dominant but also tasted hints of leather and molasses. This complex parade of flavours mingle together for a deeply earthy and luxurious smoke. Being the largest of the series we were able to enjoy this cigar for around 90 minutes.
