8-9-8

$290.00

Sometimes it seems like the Ashton Classic 8-9-8 cigar has been around since the beginning of time, yet here it still stands to beat the pants off of more rookie mild smokes left and right. Crafted during the heady days of the mid-90’s cigar boom by Robert Levin and the geniuses at Arturo Fuente, it has survived and thrived despite the onslaught of hundreds of upstarts in the revitalized tobacco business. How it has accomplished the feat is a relatively straightforward matter of taking the best Dominican tobaccos, carefully fermenting and aging them for three to four years, then marrying them within an ultra-silky and flawless Connecticut Shade wrapper.   We all know that a significant amount of skill and bit of luck go into creating a genuinely world-class cigar, but when you lay your eyes for the very first time on an Ashton Classic 8-9-8 cigar, you will begin to realize just how special they are. Glossy and golden, each 6 1/2 X 44 vitola carries a regal bearing

Coronas Gordas Anejados

$350.00
Overview: Partagas Coronas Gordas Anejados The Partagás Corona Gorda Añejados is named for its vitola, and measures 143mm in length with a 46 ring gauge. They carry a striking second band, carrying its Especial designation and its 2015 date of release. These special vitolas are released by Habanos under the Añejados range, which translates from Spanish to ‘Aged’. A unique aging process is carried out for these cigars, while many other special editions age the raw tobacco separately prior to rolling, the Gordas Anejados are finished and then laid to rest for 5 years inside their boxes. The Coronas Gordas Anejados offered a soft aroma of leather to start, while the cold draw offers a rich and nostalgic mix of stone fruit mixed with cinnamon. Once lit flavours of cedar and a dash of pepper come out first, the draw is sharp and the smoke is thick, with additional notes of citrus fruit and a touch of grass. This cigar starts out mild but reaches medium by the end of the first third. We highly recommend pairing this cigar with a glass of oaked chardonnay to coax out the complex profile of this fine cigar. Expect a final smoking time to land around the 90 minute mark. Maduro N2

$300.00

The Maduro wrapper is greasy, but grainy and a bit speckled. Raw, there is a good draw and woody and suave notes. A thick and fragrant smoke escapes from the first puffs. The flavors are immediately woody and roasted and a certain power is already apparent, but the combustion leaves something to be desired on some copies. After relighting, the cigar takes on a welcome roundness. The white smoke is still faithful to the post and becomes smoother in the mouth. It carries aromas of mocha and chocolate. The third third, dominated by burnt flavors, is less lush and the cigar tends to heat up. Always a beautiful figurado from the Partagás house, even if the quality of its manufacture seems to be deteriorating: beware!

Partagas Lusitanias Gran Reserva 2013

$1,500.00
The box is black and brilliant, gleaming in the reflected light. An ornate and interwoven G and R shine in gold type from the box top, with the date 2007 written below, a sign that the 15 cigars inside are something special indeed. This is a box of Partagás Lusitania Gran Reservas, one of only 5,000 for the entire world, and after more than a 10-month wait they have finally begun appearing in cigar shops. The smoke has the same dimensions as a regular production Lusitania—7 5/8 inches long with a ring gauge of 49, the standard for double coronas, known as Prominentes in Cuba—but the tobacco inside is said to be more than five years old. Only the third Cuban cigar to ever bear the Gran Reserva name, they sell for more than $100 each in most global markets, and have generated big interest among serious cigar smokers.

Partagas Serie D

$280.00
The Partagas Serie D No. 6 is a Petit Robusto vitola, measuring 90mm in length with a 50 ring gauge. This cigar was released as part of the Partagas D series in 2014, making it the most recent addition to the D series. The construction of this cigar is incredible, packed with the ideal amount of fill, your fingers glide over a remarkably smooth wrapper that is finished with a perfect triple cap. We found this smoke to be the definition of short and sweet, greeted by a warm nutty aroma, once lit large plumes of thick creamy smoke came bursting out of this cigar. The burn was sharp and flavour hovered at medium, offering a delicious blend of nuts, coffee, pepper and sweet spice notes. The No. 6 is the shortest cigar within the series, depending on your smoking style, this one will last between 25-45 minutes, making it ideal for brief but delicious smoking opportunities. Try to puff this one slowly so it doesn’t become harsh from the heat, you don’t have the time for flavours to unfold like you would with many of its siblings. partagas serie D EL 2003

$600.00
Description
Box of 25, 6 1/8 x 50 The cigar has a smooth, silky sheen to it, no veins mar the touch. It cuts with ease and has no specific distinguishing pre-light taste, other than a freshness akin to cigar leaf which is still aging. The cigar just feels good! It lights quickly, evenly, and provides plenty of smoke from the first puff to the last one. The draw is easy, burns evenly, and smokes slowly. The ash is a deep dark gray, fully consumed, allowing all the flavors to come forth. This cigar is not to be taken lightly. It is full bodied, yet not too strong for the occasional smoker. It certainly provides enough pleasure for the connoisseur. The tastes vary from slightly vegetal to woodsy and old leather. Although the wrapper is Maduro, there is no hint of sweetness, to my surprise. There is more ligero in this blend than in any other Partagas, closer to a well aged Cazadores, than anything else. If I had to describe the cigar in one word, it would be “comfortable.” This vitola is a great alternative to other afternoon cigars, allowing you to linger over your espresso.

Serie C No 3 EL 2012

$460.00
They are characterized by vitolas-sizes- that do not appear in the usual range of the brand portfolio, and they are distinguished by a careful selection of their leaves – wrapper, filler and binder- which have been aged for a period of at least 2 years. The wrapper dressing these Habanos comes from the top leaves of the Tapado – shade grown- black Cuban tobacco plant, and is relevant characteristic that identifies these special productions. This wrapper is usually darker than the wrappers of regular range sizes of the brand.

Serie D No 4

$270.00
What is it about the Partagás Serie D No. 4 that’s made it the most popular Cuban cigar in the world? Is it the eye-catching red band? Is it the cigar’s reputation for being more full bodied than most other Cubans? Whatever the reason, this perennial crowd pleaser maintained high quality this year, rising above other Cuban cigars for its ability to consistently deliver a flavorful smoking experience, despite its high production numbers. The Partagás Alphabet Series started in the 1930s with many different sizes, but by the 1970s, the Serie D No. 4 was the only remaining remnant of the line. Then, in 2005, Habanos revisited the series, eventually adding four sizes. The red bands haven’t really changed much over the years, and yet the cigars, with their simple, streamlined lettering still seem fresh and modern. Part of that has to do with the introduction of the tubos, which are sold in handy three-packs. This red-on-black presentation gives the brand a sleek appearance and was a smart marketing decision by Habanos. Smart packaging only goes so far. The Serie D No. 4 lives up to appearances with its explosion of flavor from the first puff, showing a palate of leather, minerals and wood, sweeter notes of orange and vanilla, as well as a lasting hazelnut finish.
